The Japanese players have shown lack of hunger in their first two matches in the ongoing FIFA World Cup and the manager of the team, Alberto Zaccheroni, is not happy with that. He wants his boys to turn up with a different kind of attitude in the must-win match against Colombia tomorrow and try to win so that they give themselves any chance of qualifying to the round of 16.
Japan has got only one point in two matches, but, they are still not out of the hunt as far as registering a place in the pre quarter final is concerned. Japan would need two results to go in their favour tomorrow.
First, they would need a win against Colombia and then, they would need Greece not to let Ivory Coast win. If these two things happen, Japan would be through.
Talking to the reporters ahead of the match against Colombia, Zaccheroni said, “There hasn’t been enough intensity in our game so far. The guys have appeared to be under pressure and probably, that’s why we haven’t been able to achieve the kind of results that we wanted. But, we still have an opportunity and we need to ensure that we go on the ground tomorrow with a different approach.”
“These are the same players who have done the nation proud on many occasions in the last few years and there is no reason why they can’t do that again. They just have to sort the mental aspects of their game and try to play fluently.”
Colombia just has to play a draw to get through to the knockouts and thus, they might use defensive tactics tomorrow and go with a strong backline.
The points’ tally of Colombia reads 6 at the moment.
