Several Liverpool fans were not happy with the team selection from Jurgen Klopp during last night’s league encounter with Burnley at home. The Liverpool fans complained about the omission of Japan national team player Takumi Minamino from the XI that started the Burnley game at Anfield last night. The Reds faithfuls wanted the petite Japan international attacker to start the game against the Clarets but they didn’t get their wish despite the fact that the Liverpool boss made several changes into the starting line-up with the likes of XerdanShaqiri, DivockOrigi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain coming into the XI.
Ahead of the game, Liverpool had gone four matches without a win after the Premier League encounters with West Brom, Newcastle United, Southampton and Manchester United. Liverpool picked up three points from those four games and that saw them drop to fourth position and six points off the summitpresently occupied by arch rivals Manchester United.
Liverpool knew a win against Burnley will get them back on track in their quest to win a second successive league title but they were unable to get the win and even lost their impressive unbeaten run at home to the Clarets. Liverpool were beaten 1-0 at home by the visitors as a result of the penalty scored by Ashley Barnes six minutes before time.
The Burnley striker was fouled by Alisson Becker in the Liverpool goal and it turned out to be the winner thus condemning the Reds to a first defeat in 69 home games in the league. Liverpool manager sent on Japan national team player Takumi Minamino for XerdanShaqirishortly after the winning goal from Ashley Barnes. He played the final six minutes of the game but he wasunable to get the equaliser for his team. He has four goals and one assist in 16 matches for Liverpool this season.
